Anyone know of any cheap but nice hotels in montreal canada?

search near Dorval.

go on expidia.com

there are several cheaphotel very close to the bus station.

It is a lot cheaper and usually nicer in Laval, QC (biggest city North of the Montreal island).

That is especially better if you have a car because it’s 15 minutes from downtown.

It’s also located near highway 15 (autoroute 15) that goes up to Mont Tremblant and down to New York state.

you should check out those on expedia.ca or google:

*Hilton Montreal/Laval
*Best Western Hotel Laval – Chateauneuf
*Quality Suites Hotel Laval
*Radisson Hotel Laval
*Comfort Inn Hotel Laval
*Sheraton Hotel Laval <——- this one is cool.
*Econo Lodge Laval

the alternative is a hostel in the tourist area in Mtl.It’s clean, friendly, and well situated close to the port and bars! brillant and you will meet people!

Auberge Alternative du Vieux-Montr

What should I see when I go to Montreal, Canada in late June?

I’m going to the Grand Prix of Canada, and I want to see the city as well. Suggestions?

The old port of Montreal is great (le vieux port de Montreal).

On July 1st, Canada day, it’s the day when everyone is moving so it’s actually not a good day for hanging out in the street of Montreal.

Shopping is fun in Montreal. On Sainte-Catherine st. between Bleury and Atwater or at the Carrefour Laval (the biggest mall in QC). http://www.carrefourlaval.ca/
Mont-Royal av. is a nice place too

For the best restaurants, stores, nightlife, arts… etc. you should check "the best of Montreal 2006". it’s a popular pool made by the Mirror newspaper for montrealers and tourists. http://www.montrealmirror.com/2006/051106/bom06_1.html

"Six flags : La ronde" is a nice park with a new roller coaster.

Have a nice trip!

if you will be here into july/06, the ‘just for laughs festival’ is great. so many wonderful comics come here.tickets sell out fast.

we go every year … wouldn’t miss it!

another thing we like to do around this time of year is watch the international fireworks comeptition at la ronde.

hope you have fun!

oh im sry i guess i should a known that and im sure u were juz jokin when u said juicy chick lingo but sry.

The Montreal Jazz festival takes place late June. There’s also an international fire works competition that happens just before Jazz Fest…And if you like amusement parks, check out La Ronde!

What offends people in Montreal, Canada?

i’m going to canada this summer

Being thought of as just another city in Canada, or worse yet, anything other than the best city in Canada.

People who call the Metro the "subway".

Drivers who think they should be allowed to drive on Ste-Catherine street when the light is green, rather than giving jaywalkers priority.

People who point out that the Main (Boul. St-Laurent) really doesn’t run North-South (or Ste-Catherine doesn’t run East-West, etc.)–and perhaps by extension, GPS devices.

Being reminded of winter in summer.

Being asked where they’re from (other than tourists–but you have to know for sure they’re tourists).

People will get offended with whatever strategy you take for language…probably the best is to just start talking to them in the language (English or French) of your choice, without asking if they speak it.

I lived in Ottawa for 5 years and have been to Montreal many times.Go if you like, but Montreal and even worse Quebec City are becoming increasingly hostile to outsiders. They get offended just by your presence – anything other than them and you are treated like dirt.

Sorry to hear that, dude, but the question was what offends Montrealers not what offends you about Montrealers.

By the way, that was for fucose man, not the poster called Dude.

From what I hear they all hate Americans.I work with several people who travel there on a regular basis and they all report this to be true.Don’t expect the red carpet treatment when you go there.

If you can’t speak french. French Quebecers take their culture very seriously.

passing gas in crowded places

Americans. especially U.S. Americans. And People who dont speak french.

Calling Canada "America Junior."

Canadians are very open and welcoming. If you can’t speak French, unlike some users have stated, they still will welcome you kindly, and most speak and understand English well. Also, although Canadians may oppose the US government’s decisions, Canadians realize that the citizens of the USA don’t necessarily hold the same views.Canadians do not hate Americans.Just act normally and unoffensively as you would to an American. The same things offend Canadians and Americans.

They do not hate Americans in general.

They hate ANYONE who doesn’t speak french. Period.
This also includes Ontario folks like me who pass through Quebec on way to North Sydney Nova Scotia.
If you stop for gas, food etc in Quebec and don’t speak their language, they instantly hate you.

Not being able to speak French. And saying that French people suck…

Montreal is a very bilingual city so don’t worry about not being able to speak French. However, you might offend people if you assume they speak english without asking first. Also, don’t worry about them hating Americans – they know that Americans = tourists spending money in their city.

How long does it take to drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Montreal, Quebec?

about 13 hours.

Less than it took me to drive from Montreal, PQ to Vancouver, BC (5 days).

Everything in the east coast is so close, it couldn’t possibly take more than 1 day.

never been there so i wouldn’t know

You can make it in 12 hours in good weather. it’s 1250km, so you can’t stop a lot.

13 hours, 7 minutes

Don’t worry about that…catch a plane !!

i guess you have never heard of mapquest???

Less than 20 hours.
could get a better idea from http://ca.map24.com

I do the drive from Toronto to Edmunston NB in 12 hours. Rest, then go from Edmunston NB to North Sydney NS in another 12, then cross to NFLD and then it’s another 13 hour drive across NFLD to Bonavista
